Johns haunting imagery of mythical characters and languid muses are infused with contemporary figurative style. The large open spaces within her canvases form dream-like landscapes of an epic fantasy. Both haunting and lyrical, Johns’ delves deep into the sublime of the western high sierra landscape. She contemplates both landscape and figure as muse and narrative mechanism.
